: I JUST PURCHASED A 73 PY 23'FLY BRIDGE. IT HAS A 318 CHRYSLER WITH A 1:1 VELVET DRIVE. I HAVE REMOVED THE ENG AND TRANS. THE BOAT IS SOLID. I WANT TO USE IT FOR FISHING ON THE NORTH SHORE OF LONG ISLAND.
: THE ENGINE IS N.G. I WANT TO REPOWER IT WITH A 360 ENGINE. HAS ANYONE DONE THIS ? IF SO WHAT AM I UP AGANIST? IS THERE A BIG IMPROVEMENT IN TOP SPEED AND PERFORMANCE? WHAT PROP SHOULD I USE?

: THANKS

Frank--
Why a 360 Chrysler? Think about a 350 GM they are everywhere, parts are cheap and the engine is strong. In my 77' Avenger I have a 73 Mercruiser right hand rotation. I had it re -worked with 1-up cam, Holly double pumper, electronic ignition. I do 40 mph (38 gps) and it's to fast for the boat. Get the 4-blade OJ Prop. 2.6mpg isn't bad either with cruise speeds of 2500 to 2800 rpms.
