I am still progressing toward completing the bilsters and all is well so far. During a brief break in the
excitement, I checked out the stringers since some parts around the engine mounts sounded soft. After some
cutting with the jig saw and some digging with a chisel I found the bottom two inches of the port stringer is
Rotted BAD!!!! some of the bottom two inches is also delaminated and after further examination the
delamination also in other parts of the port and starboard stringer. Looks like STRINGER
REPLACEMENT! Any advice...... Some may say to replace with wood, some may say to use that pourable
repair material "Seacast" and I guess there some other options. My plan is to use new wood soaked in CPES
and then use Epoxy and biaxal glass (at least three layers). The only problem is that the stringers go through
the bulkhead located just infront of where the engine is. I guess I can overcome that problem, it acuatlly
seems kinda minor to the entire situation. I may also encounter some problems when I get toward the transom
since there are supports for the tunnel there and the space is limited. Removing the top is NOT an option to I
guess I will have to make due with the limited space that is available. So, RECOMMENDATIONS
anyone?????
I will post pics soon for the stringers but I will also have updated pics on blisters and the hatches up tonight!
