Does anyone have any used brackets for a 23 flybridge windscreen. Talked to TJ about them, he might have some at $54 a piece. I thought maybe someone might have some kicking around.

This is for a one piece winscreen found on a 1977 23 avenger flybridge.

See pictures attached.

Thanks

I was missing a bracket and made one out of 3/4" or 1" aluminum flat stock from Home Depot. It bends easily and is cheap although it does not look like the original.

Brian,
I did the same as you . When I got my 77 fb ,it didnt have the brackets and sheild there at all . I used 3/16x1 Aluminum and cut and polished the ends . They came out pretty good actually. $54 x 3 is not that bad for new ones and I may replace them some time when I have the extra cash .

PYN, did you make your own windscreen out of plastic sheeting after fabricating the brackets? It looks good.

I have a wrap-around windscreen (grey/smoke) on my new basket case Avenger FB, but the previous owner broke a piece of it out when taking down the bimini, so I'll have to address that sometime. I still have the piece that broke out, so I may try to glue it somehow first, but don't have high hopes for that.

After searching locally for a big enough piece of plexi-glass, I ended up purchasing one from TJ. Mine wasn't too expensive, but is the simple one piece design. You might want to call him to get a qoute on yours, just to see how much.

Chuck ,
yes I did make it . I got a sheet of plexi at home depot . I wanted tinted but they didnt have it . I used the all aroud light to figure how tall it should be . Used a staight edge up the side of the fly bridge for the end angles . Then I calculated the radius using the curve on the front of the fly bridge . I cut the plexi with a jig saw and sanded it smooth. I have enough plexi left over to make about 3 more and I think I spent a total of $40 .

BOY, Next time I break mine. I am calling you! I think I paid 8 times that price for mine - for that price difference who needs it to be tinted? You could start a little business here.

I take mine off every winter for shrinkwrapping, that how my last one broke, caught the edge while I was removing the wrap a few springs ago.

Good job.

Nicely done. I love homebuilt stuff! (mostly b/c I'm a cheapass and won't spend the $$ for OEM, ha ha).

biggrin.gif If your counting $ your cheapest fix is to get 2 small pcs. (top & bottom) drill and tap using SS alen screws. Can also make a set for opposite side just to balance it out. Plus if it's on a radius they always wan'na crack there so it might beef up the good side a little. Same deal on my old Wheeler it was smoked plexi and you could hardly notice the repair. wink.gif
